Geographical Portal for educational purpose BLOG-2. Markless AR

Billede
Read blog-1 of the Geographical Portal for educational purpose: Markless AR, for a overview of the project and the current state before this session.  For the fourth session we simply had to implement the application itself together with the finding the last few assets needed for the experience. For the implementation we yet again used the Unity platform, which just as the previous project, allows simple AR setup in correlation with game-objects. As the google street view failed, we had to make some alterations to the portal object written about below.   Firstly we added the needed AR camera again to our scene in unity. Do be reminded to run this via united it is needed to have the Android Development setup correctly together with the JDK to run the application. Now furthermore we also needed the different game-objects that we are going to interact with. The following image shows the different game-objects we have included in this project:  From the shown objects the...

Geographical Portal for educational purpose BLOG-1. Markless AR

Now compared to Markedbased AR, markerless AR is a bit more complicated and difficult to implement. Markedbased takes the use of image recognition whilst Markesless AR does not have that. It instead is a straight forward augmented reality that is displayed on top of the reality. An example is glasses that display images/objects on top of the real image you can see through the glasses. This could be furniture in the room. On top of this Markeless AR also has the ability to allow the user to interact with object in the Augmented reality. Move the furniture's around to see how they look in different spots of the room.  Our Idea for this project is to create sort of portals that allow the user to step into a different place in the world. This could be used in geographical education as the students would be able to step into the "city" that they are currently being taught about. An example could be the city of Paris and allow the students to walk directly up to the Eiffel towe...

Educational AR popup for XRD Lecture 2

Billede
The first lecture was spent to give an overall overview of the course and its process. This lecture was then spent on lab hours. Therefor the group started to work on the given project of this week, which is a simple application running an AR program.  AR (Augmented Reality) is sort of technology that allows the user to experience real world interaction together with computer generated objects. These can be simple as small character that jump around on your phone and interact with the ground such as pokemonGO to more complex objects such a fully interactive screen of wiring.  Our idea for an AR application would be an enhancement for children's book that would allow children to more deeply experience of what they are reading. Allowing them to get a better understand whilst also making it fun to read. The theory behind it is simply to create readable assets in the book which the children can scan with their phones, from which the scanned assets then creates what they wanna see....
